The Robert Sklar Memorial Scholarship

On behalf of the Department, the Tisch School of the Arts, and the family of the late Professor Emeritus Robert Sklar, it is my privilege to announce that Adrienne Harris, the widow of the late Robert Sklar, has established a scholarship fund in honor of our longtime mentor, friend, and colleague. The Robert Sklar Memorial Scholarship will provide financial aid to students at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the Department of Cinema Studies, a department Professor Sklar devoted himself to for over thirty years. There is no more fitting tribute to his memory than this, an endowment for the students to whom he committed his life and his work.

All donations to the fund will help towards our goal to establish a permanent endowment in his name. Our target is to raise $100,000 by July 2012. Please give generously.

Donors of $250 or more to the scholarship will receive preferred, early seating to our March concert event in which, on behalf of this charity, I will perform with my band, Thaumatrope, drawn from students in the department. The precise location of this event has yet to be determined and details will be confirmed soon.
